Oil dipstick tube - is it straight or angled?

I broke my oil dipstick tube pulling the cam cover off -- pulled the tube out of the clip, so I ordered a new one from a Ford dealer on Fleabay. The tube goes into the clip end at an angle. I asked the seller if it should be straight and he just said to return it. So I did. The second one, also from a Ford dealer on Fleabay also has the tube glued into the clip at an angle.

Did I get two defective dipstick tubes or are they supposed to be at an angle?

If it should be at an angle, does the bottom go closer to the centerline of the engine or towards the outside of the block. I assume it shouldn't go toward front or back.
