When you lower a S197 with springs does it send the rear pinion angle more negative or more positive. For some reason im having a hard time picturing it in my head. I was originally thinking it causes the housing to tilt forward/down(more neg) bc your reducing the travel arc of the upper control arm.

Yes it tilts more down to the ground when you lower.

OK thanks that's what I thought. A shop my buddy went to tried telling him that his pinion angle was at +3 degrees after springs but im sure they measured off the flat bottom of the housing which is not accurate.

And an adjustable upper control arm fixes this?

Yes but the 3 link is kind of funky, in that you can also adjust it with adjustable lower control arms. With both adjustable lower and upper control arms there are almost infinite possible combinations.
