Hello all!

I was doing some reading on 4:10 swap. One thread mentioned I might be able to swap out the housing instead of having a shop install gears in current rear end.

I would have shop install this

or would I be able to swap out the complete housing with this?

I am unsure based on description if this is a complete rear end housing that is pre-assembled that I can just plug and play.

Any thoughts?

Thank you all!

The LMR add shows a gear set and install kit and the eBay add shows a gear set and install kit with a carrier. Both would require knowledgeable installation into your housing.

Not sure what you mean by swapping the housing? If you have a normal 8.8 solid axle there is no "housing" that comes out at one differential unit. If you have a Cobra or something else with an IRS rear end with a differential center section that drops out then you could probably buy a used center section already set up with 4.10 gears.

Cobra center section:

Either kit you listed will require some set up to get the pinion depth and ring gear side spacing correct so it doesn't whine or wear out. Personally I'd stick with the Ford Racing / Motorcraft stuff.
