It was about 78 and humid last night, didn't have the air on. Did a wot blast on the highway and right after I let off, I had some steam come out of the defrost vent.

Seemed a bit odd, but I'm always logging, nothings outta whack with the car. Just found it odd.

I was bs'ing with 2 techs at work and mentioned it, and one of them has a stock 11 Auto himself, and he says his does that sometimes after coming off wot. Was curious if anyone else has experienced this.

First time I can remember it, Normally I almost always have the a/c on and windows up. I just had it off to listen to some sweet exhaust music.

Possibly some condensation on the heater core due to the humidity. After you did your WOT blast, hot coolant may have circulated through there resulting in the heating of the condensation...resulting in a cloud of water vapor.

:headscratch:

I thought the same thing, but the cooland isn't low, and my buddy's does it bone stock occassionally.

The more I think about it, I may have experienced this once or twice at the track late night too. Can't remember though...

seems like too much of a coincedence that a brand new car with 2000 miles would be doing the same thing though both of us working at the same dealership and his is stock no less

You said the a/c was on, turned it off to listen to the beast, then did what...?

Turned the a/c back on? Or did you have it set to defrost/feet? If so, the a/c runs to dry the air blowing on the glass to prevent fogging/help defrost the glass faster.

So, how'd she sound? ;)

No, I didn't have air or heat on, it was pretty humid out, normally I would have the a/c on, but we just swapped pulley's and I was listening to the car with the window about 1/2 down.

BTW, never had it happen to your degree. Only happens to me when i have the air on low and it is ever so slight.

I have to agree with your shop guy. I dont think its a heater core. If it was older and had some more miles I would be more inclined to think so. But not in this case

Its happened to me a couple times what it cool and humid out and the AC/heat was turned off.

I could see some condensation above the defrost vents on the windshield, first thing I thought was heater core but its done it a few times and I smell no antifreeze so I'm sure its just some moisture trapped in hvac somewhere and going 130mph forces it out.

Yeah that is what I'm thinking. I know he said no A/C but if you had used it earlier, that may have been why.

When I was driving back from NJ I used the A/C part of the way as it was REALLY humid last weekend. Long story short I flicked it off and put the windows down. The natural tendency of air coming through the vents even though the HVAC was turned off caused condensation to build up inside of them behind the dash to the point where 'steam' was coming out of them at highway speeds of 80+. It was just noticeable, but when I stuck my finger inside of my vents it was actually WET with condensation.

Yep, most likely not a problem. Used to happen to me. The leaky heater core is not likely.

Even with my air off, I can still feel a pressure differential pushing through the defrost and floor vents.

IMO, your evaporator was probably sweating or there was just residual moisture in the case. The hard pull on a static system created basically what amounts to fog (extremely hot coolant suddenly introduced to the case) that was pushed thru the vents.
