Plan on getting a pair for the front( 275/40/18), to replace the old 285/40/18 555's. I am running 285/40/18 555r out back. Any pricing out yet?

Discount has some pricing listed. I'm looking at a pair of 315's. The prices are on the site, but they're listed as out of stock right now. But the price was pretty much identical to the old 555. I think it was a 50 cent difference.

THE 555R WAS A DRAG TIRE

You guys might be thinking of the 555R2, the slightly more shit NT01.

That was I think, a quasi road course /auto cross tire... for heavy muscle cars. For what ever reason, it was only out for 1 yr, then they discontinued it.

No, I'm just not familiar with Nittos. I recall hearing (reading) that for high horsepower cars if you wanted traction on the street you ran NT555r's instead of NT555's.

So I assume the NT555r's would be closer to something like the Mickey Thompson ET Street radial?

The NT-555R drag radial has a tread wear rating of just 100. You might get 10 k miles from them. Some claim 15 k miles. Take it to the drag strip, let some air out, pre-heat the rears in the water box....and they won't last long.

I thought the MT ET street radial had a 300 tread wear rating..and was sorta MT's answer to the Nitto NT-555 ?

Nitto also makes a NT-05R drag radial, with a tread wear rating of zero.

The existing Nitto NT-555 is not the best tire in the rain, it only has 3 longitudinal grooves. The G2 version has 5.

If they dont have considerable amount more grip than the 555 then I aint interested... 555 suck. The only good thing about them is the price. They have no grip, dont break water, heck im sure I can come up with another complaint. Someone keep this updated if they get their hands on some and let us know how they are

Just ordered a pair of G2's in 275/35/20 from Discount Tire Direct.

They were $197.20 each, cheaper than the old 555's by almost $1/tire, and the guy said I should have them in my hands in about 7-10 days

Hope to have them mounted/balanced on my new 20x10 Niche Milans and on the front of the car shortly thereafter.

why so few 19" choices? thats pathetic!

I didn't find any 19" Nittos in 555 G2 or 555r.

Got the site to work by turning off my ad blocker.

Looks like I will once again dismiss Nitto and search elsewhere for tires when I drop the TVS in my car.

They currently list 6 sizes for 19" in NT-555.

They currently list only 2 sizes in 19: in NT-555 G2
