Went to Fontana for street legal drags. 5 of my passes were P.B but the weather and D/A played a huge roll. I also added an aluminum d/s, replaced the M&H 275/50/17 (28") with M/T 26.5x11.5x17 (25.7") tires and had dyno tune. My previous best with a D/A of 3075' was
60' 1.843
1/8 8.595 at 80.23
1/4 13.376 at 103.99

Today's best with a D/A of 1290 was
60' 1.806
1/8 8.436 at 82.05
1/4 13.185 at 102.87.

I wonder if the shorter tire is hurting my time a little. With the M&H I trap in 3rd at 6500 RPMS. With the M/T I have to shift to fourth and I trap right around 5000 RPMS.
Here is one of my runs against an 2006 Pontiac GTO.

This was my first run of the day.

You should be able to cross in 3rd I would think or close to it.

You can also try short shifting 3rd and see what happens.

I would be winding the motor up a little bit more. Red Line of 7000 and shift around 6800 if it is still making good power there.

In the race against the GTO looked like you were shifting ok, but spun coming off the line. What pressure are you running in the tires? Whats your launch rpm, car sounded like it bogged in the same run. The 2nd run it sounds like your shifting normal and not speed shifting.

I am not speed shifting. My tire pressure was right around 13-14 PSI. I am not sure what I am launching at. I start reving as soon as the light begins to count down. I find this technique easier than holding revs. I usually cut high 1.7s to low 1.8 60's.

Second vid where you can hear the shifts...they sound a little slow. Do you have a short throw shifter?
It's a hurst sts. I guess I could have been more aggressive with the shifts but I did have one miss shift yesterday when I was a little more aggressive.

By your sig it looks like you don't have longtubes. I think having the stage 2 cams might actually be hurting you since you can't get the air out of there fast enough. You definitely need to shift a bit faster.

Gotcha....

Couple of recommendations.

1. Lower your tire pressure to 11. After burnout this will put you around 12 PSI which is the target.

2. Practice your launch and shifting on some desolate roads. No reason you should not be cutting consistent 1.7 60' times.

With better launches and quicker shifts you will be in the 12's. Good luck! :)

^Agreed with this man above! Hell you should be 12s no problem. You just need to shift faster.

Intake, LTs, 3.73s, UDP, CMCVs + street tires are all i have on my gt and it runs 12.80s all day long, even in the heat of the summer.

Looking at the 1/4 mile ranking board, it seems like I am also loosing power the last 1000'. At the 1000' mark my time is 10.993, yet the person's 1000' time 5 places above me is 11.001 and his 1/4 mile is 13.129 compared to my 13.185.
