My uncle had someone paint the outside deck with a latex paint a few years back, and now it looks like shit, i told him i would refinish the deck and paint it with Behr deckover, i already pulled up the top railings and put down new ones...now my question is how the hell can i get off the rest of the paint??. as you can see in the picture the power washer is going to take forever..should i just get all the loose paint off and paint over whats there?? thanks for any input.

Don't they make a special tip for pressure washers which basically spins and strips a thin layer off a bare wood surface? I wonder if something like that would work given you have an adaquate pressure washer?

Your other option would be to get a floor sander... like the ones they use to refinish hardwood floors in the house. I used one on my parents old deck and it was pretty quick and easy. you just had to make sure you were holding on or there will be collateral damage...
