does a 160* thermostat require a special tune or is it plug and play?

no but should have fan settings changed a little in tune

Ditto. The stock t-stat is likely 192 degrees, with your fan set to go on appropriately.
A 180 degree t-stat may work well for you too, not being too hot nor too cold.
Either way, you need to lower your fan temps (hi an lo speeds) to compensate for the lower t-stat.

wll i run into problems if i just install it without adjusting anything?

I would think that in city traffic your not going to get the effect or full effect that your looking for with the 160 stat.. since it will open but the fans won't be on to cool the water in the radiator..

Engine might not come up to temp bepending where you live and that's not good.

im in florida, my aeroforce gauge reads 198 usually for head temp and a about 192 for coolant temp, takes about 5 minutes to get up to that temp.
