Trunk trim fastener frustrations

Fed up with the little plastic nuts that are supposed to hold the trunk lining in place. They are directly opposite the tail lights. By chance I discovered these Well Nuts make a perfect replacement and as they have metal threads, they will not strip out like the stupid plastic ones.

Search D1420 Well Nut, there are multiple suppliers.

I found them by searching "well nuts" but now what size to get?

This is almost exactly what I did. But instead I used a metal washer and a philips bolt/screw. Never have an issue with it again. I also colored everything black for it to blend in with the interior.

OH Thank God for you this has been a pain in my ass for years now I've bought so many of them damn plastic trunk trim retainers and they are worthless......Please tell me where to buy these asap !

D1420 stands for 1/4" -20 threads. Search for that.

1420 is the size designation.

I had to deal with those in my 2008 and they were worthless. So far don't know if my 2012 has the same type. I haven't had a problem, so far.
