Took down all the outside Christmas decorations yesterday because I won't be back home for a couple of weeks - still working in Michigan and my wife lives in our place in Winston Salem, NC. Got up this morning to only 7 degrees in NC and got ready to leave. Everything was fine until my wife tried to fill the coffee pot. Kitchen pipes were frozen, everywhere else in the house was fine. I had to get on the road at 9 because 3 of the grandkids came down with me and 2 of them start school tomorrow so my wife had to deal with it.
She called me about 2 hours later and said it was all fixed. We had opened the cabinets so heat could get in, but we don't have a space heater. She decided to just turn the oven to the "self clean" setting. The heat from the cleaning cycle was enough to take care of it. Tonight she is going to leave the cabinets open, turned the basement zone setting up a little higher, and will leave the cold water dripping in the kitchen sink. Still going to be cold there (only 2 degrees here in Michigan - most of the trip back it was single digits).
