HI I just noticed yesterday that my disable passenger air bag light is lit. Can someone please tell me what the deal is with the disable passenger side air bag button on the 05-09 GTs ? Mines lit and when I try to push it it does nothing. Is it broken ? Am I suppose to push some other button firs before push it ? How's this thing work ? is it suppose to be lit ? does that mean my passenger air bag is disabled ? I hope someone who knows how this works will explain it to me......Thanks

Do you have something on the passenger side seat that weighs a few pounds? Or do you have aftermarket seats? I think there's a pressure sensor in the seat (OCS sensor - Occupant Classification Sensor) and it will disable the airbag for small humans that are sitting there... Like if a kid that weighs 40 pounds sits in the passenger seat it automatically turns off the airbag. I think anything over 75 pounds will let the airbag stay on. There may also be a seat position sensor, so that if the seat is slid too far forward it will also disable the airbag.

Here's a little blurb I found:

The seat occupant classification sensor (OCS) system is found only on the front passenger seat. The front passenger seat OCS system is comprised of a silicone gel-filled bladder mounted in the seat cushion, a pressure sensor that is mounted to the seat frame and an ECU which is also mounted to the seat frame. Pressure is applied to the OCS system bladder when the weight of any occupant or object in the front passenger seat is sensed. The pressure is then transferred through a tube, is sensed by the OCS system pressure sensor, then electronically communicated to the OCS system ECU. Based on preprogrammed set points, the OCS system ECU will inform the RCM, via a high-speed controller area network (HS-CAN), of the necessary information. The RCM uses this information in determining if the passenger air bag module is to be deployed in the event of a deployable collision. The RCM may also use this information to illuminate/not illuminate the passenger air bag deactivation (PAD) indicator.

As above, the light comes on when there’s something heavy enough in the seat for it to realize but not so heavy as to require the air bag.

WOW Thanks I never knew they were weight sensors in my seats. Now something you said might explain my issue. You said if the seat is all the way back well both of my are as the people ride in my car are mostly tall and need the added leg room from moving the seat back to its furthest position. I also didn't;'t known its a light and now a button so thanks for explaining this I knew someone on here would known.
