From my experience going from the stock 3.31 to a 3.73 made zero difference. All my numbers stayed the same. The very low 1st gear ratio in the 6r80 negates any benefit of a gear early in the run.
At the time my car was stock with a tune. These days, many mods later, I’m using 3.55s to get my...
For what it's worth that was exactly my experience with the gear change. No difference. 2012, 5.0, Roush TVS, (at the time) M&H 275/45/18, 93 oct tune. Went from the 3.15 to 3.73. No change in ET on the strip. I tend to think that first gear is so low in these transmissions it negates the...
Lidio Iacobelli from Alternative Auto just posted a good write up on this topic on their FB page. Good read.

Can’t believe it’s been over two years since I’ve updated this thread. But I have made a few changes and wanted to share my experiences for others that are thinking along the same lines.
In Oct of 2014 I decided to go with the Roush TVS. It was installed and tuned by Lidio at Alternative Auto...
Went back and checked my notes and with a Lund tune, C&L CAI, M&H drag radial on stock wheels and 3.73 gears my best was a 12.57.
I then added a set of BBK long tubes, catted X pipe, along with the fore mentioned C&L CAI, M&H drag radial on stock wheels and 3.73 gears and my best was a...
For a comparison I ran an 8.52 @ 84 in the 8th and a 13.09 @ 108 in the quarter with a 2.00 60 ft. That was a 2012 A6 pure stock right from the dealer. Density altitude was about 2100 ft that day.
My guess is you would be running a high 12 in the quarter. I would say you made a decent run...

I thought I would update this thread one more time as I have made a few changes and learned a few things that might benefit someone else with their 5.0 automatic.
After adding a 3.73 gear, C&L intake and a new custom dyno tune I headed out to the track. Things did not improve, at all. Car...

No idea what the air/fuel and total timing is. Talked with them via their support site and was advised I could put in 2 degrees more global spark to make it more aggressive at the track.
This is similar to 5 Oh Brian’s thread but not wanting to hijack I thought I would post a separate thread.
Car is a 2012 GT Auto with drag radials. The car's drag racing history from stock to this point is here:

At that time I was running a Livernois tune. Just received a Lund tune and haven't had a chance to try it yet.
Best time stock was 13.09. 3 weeks later with a tune and a K&N drop in I went 12.89. Later on with better air in the Fall I went 12.68.
All that is chronicled here...
