I had two '86 5.0 5-speeds. A notch that I bought new, and an LX hatch I bought a few years later from the original owner. If you're used to an S197, you're going to think it's from the stone-age. On the plus side, they sound good, get great gas mileage, and there are a gazillion aftermarket upgrades available. On the minus side, they don't stop, and they don't handle. The stopping part you can fix. But no matter how much $$ you spend on the handling, it'll never handle nearly as well as a lightly-modded S197.

My $.02.

Do it!
4 eyed foxes are cool and just feel so raw.
My 09 is 10x the car that my 82 GT was but the feeling of the throttle response with that much torque in that light of a car was awesome.

That sales ad is more of a feeler than anything. I will likely have both.......

It sure looks nice in the pictures.

I had a bunch of the early Fox Mustangs back in the day.
Some with Paxton S/C and they ran really well.

i've got a motor/trans out of an '86 in my '66, not stock motor though, nor a stock car. But like ExSRT8Guy said, the handling feel is stone age to the s197, probably stone age to the 4 eye as well though, LoL
And like Red09GT said, that feeling that comes through the skinny pedal, all that torque, lightweight tiny car, damn sure put's a smile on my face.

Early fox prices are climbing for cars in that condition. You will probably be able to enjoy it for a couple of years, and sell it for more than you bought it for. I am always on the look out for a clean OG notch, in hopes of doing the same.

Ugh, I forgot how much I hated the steering wheels on the foxes. Lol!

Might I ask what such a car brings in the Texas market? If you don't want to say, that's cool.

I bought a '93 GT hatchback recently and it is what I call a "20 footer". From 20 feet away it looks great. But up close you see that it's super clean but it needs a paint job. The bonus was the $7K+ of hard parts already installed and sorted out. It was like getting the car for free (or all the parts).
