Back for More
I've been gathering parts for several months now and although my pistons have been on back order from Manley since early April, they're supposedly coming any day now. I have most everything else so I listed my Procharger P-1SC-1 for sale the other day (upgrading to F1-A), expecting it to take awhile to sell, but low and behold it sold almost immediately! So I had to remove it from my car to ship to it's new owner, leaving my car no longer drivable. In my mind this was a good excuse to go ahead and officially begin my build! So here we go...
Highlights of build:
shortblock:
302 forged stroker
Kellogg 3.750 crank
Manley H beam 5.850 rods
Manley 14cc coated pistons w/plasma moly rings
GT500 pump w/TSS billet gears
ARP studs & fasteners throughout
TF adjustable crank gears
Heads:
custom grind L&M Engines cams w/lockouts
Pac 1533 springs
FRPP timing set
FRPP lash adjusters & followers
I'll be doing some minor porting work to the heads and un-shrouding the valves while I have them out. Then when I'm done I'll bring them to the shop for a nice valve job and deck .001 off the bottom.
power adder:
Procharger F1-A, 20lbs +/-
Race bypass valve upgrade
sold centri blower
clearing out some room
just about ready to pull
ran into a little hiccup, I didn't realize I had to pull the nose clip off to get the hoist close enough to reach!
Still not enough clearance! Have to pull the intercooler too Urghhh!
Okay this will work!
Got it! Coors light time!
lots of room to work now!
I took lots of pics during the tear down in case I need them later, which I'm sure I will!
NSR cams for sale, coming soon the the classified section! They're being replaced with custom L&M Engines grinds.
stock RTA coming out!
Next I'll be de-burring the block, cleaning up the oil passages, etc. Then soon as the camel gets here with my pistons it'll be time for the machine shop.
I must say pulling these motors is waaaay more work than the old Fox body 5.0's, holy cow! I was expecting to be a little worse but man that pretty much sucked all around! I'm sure it'll suck even worse going back in but I'm not gonna think about that right now
