My car isn't gong to be tracked in the near future. It's my daily driver, daily meaning I drive it 18 miles to the airport and park it for a week, and back home again.I run M1 or Supertech synthetic.
The Coyote gets M1 0w-40 for daily duty, and 5w-50 for track days. I change it somewhere between 5-6000 miles, and/or before a track event. 10W30 in the other beaters (5w20 recommended), and those get changed once a year when they are getting inspected. Sometimes get close to 15000 on the beaters in a year.
The "old" track toy, 91, the GT40 crate w/Strim gets 20w50 M1.
I've run Amsoil & RP, and those seemed fine too, but pricey. Used to run Castrol, but switched to M1 about 10 years ago. Yea, I'm with the "thicker oil is better" crowd. hehehe
If it isn't going to be tracked, Amsoil with the weight specified by the manufacturer. Greg Hazlett on here is an Amsoil dealer, and can get you a deal on Amsoil.
Thank you. Much appreciated. If it isn't going to be tracked, Amsoil with the weight specified by the manufacturer. Greg Hazlett on here is an Amsoil dealer, and can get you a deal on Amsoil.

You're correct... he changes his BMW every 10K. I plan on doing all the services at the Ford dealership as well. Thanks for the reply.Oil that goes into BMWs have to meet different requirements and they also call for longer drain intervals. Motorcraft Syn Blend with a Motorcraft filter will never steer you wrong. I would run the manufacturer recommended 5w-20 weight. If you're not getting enough oil pressure at hot idle during Vegas summers, use a 5w-50. That is what the Track Pack and Boss 302 call for IIRC.
All full synthetic carries this rating, it's just the original product updated and repackaged.Has anyone tried the new Mobil 1 annual protection oil? It would be nice if I can just change my oil once a year as I barely put 3000 miles a year if that but just been changing it every 5-6 months.
Hahaha, sir, step away from the advice giving.I have a bunch of experience with the 3v ford 4.6 and 5.4......what is important is not mobil1 vs amsoil ect........RUN THAT THE CAP SAYS!!! 5w20. Even though the block is modular ( run 2v,3v, or even the Cobra 4v heads) run with the cap/ manual says. Majority of the problems are guys running a thicker oil. Trust the engineers. Those VCT and oil passages on the crank are oil weight critical to work and last. ( notice the Cobra 4v heads are non VCT and take a thicker oil)

So a regular synthetic can last 12 months with only moderate use (like 3-5000 miles?)
