So 2 days ago I lost boost and heard a bad metal sound coming from the blower.

I pulled the blower off pulled the snout off drained the fluid and started messing with the rotors and after I notice they are a PITA to get out I call saleen who tells me they won't warranty anything since it wasn't installed by an authorized dealer.

I then call JDM and speak to Joe for two days who gives me some great advice "rotors are really hard to pull don't do it!"

So I put everything back and I just can't leave well enough alone tonight I pull the top off the blower and lookie what I find.

Should saleen replace this under warranty at THEIR cost, I have no idea what damage this has done to the blower itself maybe nothing but I'll let you guys decide.

jesus, a couple spot welds and some silicon holding that on? I would say it should be covered if it was a recent purchse. I heard that the Saleens sometimes sound like coffee grinders:idea:

rainbow towel?

Wow, that sucks. I never heard of a Saleen S/C failing like that. Where did you buy it from?

Oops. But now that you took it apart, they could say you damaged that when you took it apart.

Anyway that sucks.

I think I see a unicorn right beside the rainbow towel......

The towl was my ex's lol I had no problem of using it.

I ordered the blower from brenspeed on 29-Aug-2007 11:32:31 AM. wow was it that long ago!

The reason some sound like a cofee grinder is saleen does a shitty job grinding down the caseing right above a rotor. I always heard a metal sound spinning the pulley thought nothing of it. When I pulled the top off I noticed a small knick on one of the rotor fins, it slightly grinds the casing. Nothing a dremel can't fix

Hopefully I can get the a new part from saleen and the new blower oil gets here soon!

Has any liquid fallen into the screws? No go to #1 or yes go to #2

1)Remove the 2 fittings which the intercooler hoses connect to.

Lift the intercooler out.

Have the little plate tig welded back on.

It shouldn't cost you more than $20.00

Have intercooler pressure tested to 20psi.

Drop the intercooler back in.

Put some black RTV around the fittings before reinstalling them.

For blower oil buy 2 AC Delco (#12345982) USA (#10953513) Canada $5.00 each

2)Remove the 2 fittings which the intercooler hoses connect to.

Lift the intercooler out.

Have the little plate tig welded back on.

It shouldn't cost you more than $20.00

Have intercooler pressure tested to 20psi

Remove the snout like you did before.

There are 2 holes in the blower plate that are threded for 3/8" unc bolts.

Drive 2 bolts in these 2 holes evenly and the blower plate and screws will come out in 1 piece. (See Photo)

Clean the screws then use permatex 51531 flange sealant and reassemble.

Drop the intercooler back in.

Put some black RTV around the fittings before reinstalling them.

Where can I pick up some of the AC Delco fluid? Do you have a link?

Not to sound stupid but where to you apply this step

"Clean the screws then use permatex 51531 flange sealant and reassemble."

And here is the weld job, He tacted it from underneath too this time so it won't happen again. There was no fluid in the screws except what looked like some oil so I did not remover the rotors so im crossing my fingers everything doesn't go boom when I crank it. Just waiting for the supercharger oil.

Use the permatex sealant where you removed the snout since there is no gasket there. It goes on the machined surface of the steel plate in my photo to keep the oil in the housing.

Go to any GM dealer to get the oil. It's what is used in the Cobalt SS and Buick 3.8L supercharged engines.

Fill the oil to the level of the threads as described in your Saleen manual.

This is the one I have.

http://www.amazon.com/Permatex-5153...3U50/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1235171302&sr=1-1

Don't you have a Napa, advance, kragens, or vatozone around you?
Pick up the gasket sealer there and a couple of bottles of blower oil from your local GM dealer and you're back on the road in no time.

I hate waiting on stuff I can get locally.

I went to napa and 2 autozone's and o' rielly's none of them carry that model number.

Will any gasket sealer work? I thought it had to be Anaerobic, I'll check out GM dealer tomorrow for the oil but if I can't get the sealant what's the point.

you can also use loctite 51831*

* Note the last 2 digits is just the type of packaging so any loctite 518 or permatex 515 will do the job. I prefer the Permatex 515 because it remains a little more soft and pliable.

Saleen should definitely replace the blower. 1 blower is not gonna do a company like saleen damage. I know whipple replaced moddadicts blower.

There is no blower damage other than a small aluminum shield that broke off. At the very least would have paid for shipping the blower both ways.
That would have probably cost him $200 not to mention the downtime.
