Anything can be done.....with money.

I see a plethora of BMR parts on the horizon...and then copycat UPR parts soon to follow.

Kelly...whatcha got cooking? How bout a BMR tubular bolt-on huckleberry that adapts the '15 IRS (or an upgraded 9" with a True-Trac) to an S197?

Why would anyone need the 9" "upgrade"? The 8.8" is very tough. But the new IRS is supposed to have the "Super 8.8" which is supposed to beefier.

9" is a far superior setup, both is size and design. It's modular, it has an end bearing on the pinion, it has a larger ring gear, etc. I agree it's overkill unless you're putting some amazing power down though.

I still like a well set up live axle more than IRS on these kinds of cars. But that's just my opinion.

looking at the framing, it doesnt look like it will be an impossibility to make this adapt to an s197

I agree. There are like 10 pieces right there BMR will score on.

The 9" has two maybe three superior design points. 1.) the pinion supported by the second bearing. 2.) the 3rd member allowing relatively easy & quick gear changes. 3.) If it's a stick axle, the 9" has captured axles and that's way better than c-clips.

I have lost the source, but many years ago I read that the 8.8" was like 90 or 95% as strong as the 9". This IRS has this new Super 8.8". I'm curious what the stock versus stock power capabilities between the Super 8.8 and the 9".

As far as aftermarket support goes. 9" is better supported.

No rear sway bar?

And those multiple pivot points are going to help eliminate the negative camber on launch and when lowered.

We will see what happens. If it is possible, we may have several solutions. This IRS into an S197 would be nice.....and I'd also like to look into offering a 9" center and better halfshafts, etc...for the IRS....like we do for the 2010+ Camaros.

Speaking of.....we broke a halfshaft in our 2010 Camaro over the weekend. It is a 9" center upgrade, with a bunch of BMR parts including 1000hp half shafts. I have some cool under car footage, it's pretty cool.

You can see a lot of run-out on that shaft as the burnout starts. It's likely it was already hurt before that launch. Cool to see though.

I said the same thing, but was told that this is how they always are.

I won't argue, my GM guys here are pretty sharp....but I dunno. lol

I will say, that run-out couldn't have helped any. The shafts just straight up sheered clean.

How could it not create some sort of vibration when it's wobbling like that? Interesting.

I'm real interested in this new IRS from Ford, and how it may hold up to abuse. Initially I was concerned with the difficulty of gear swaps, but it appears they have designed the frame to allow the housing to be removed with little work.

Hopefully that can be done, and better than it was on the new edge cobra's. Funny I was watching drag week coverage and there was a Datsun with IRS from cobra swapped in
