Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has made there own intake pipe or system for the vortech supercharger. If you didn't know, vortech has flattened a section of the intake before it reaches the blower. I know that Anderson Ford Motorsports(AFM) makes a kit but you have to buy a Aabaco (spelling) MAF with it to work. AFM kit is $599. I was thinking of getting a 2 90degree elbow to come off the blower housing and make a pipe that puts the air cleaner by the cowl. I will be getting a 4"cowl hood so clearance will hopefully be suffient. AFM makes one for the procharger, which u can see on their website. To take care of the MAF, I thought of using a Diablosport MAFiA to account for the added airflow. Does anyone know if this set up might work or am I missing something? Currently, I'm running 10.5lb of boost and according to my tuner using the entire curve of my stock MAF sensor.
Any suggestions????

my tuner fabricated one by himself for another customer and picked up an additional 60whp on the dyno over the stock intake. Of course, this was on a built motor and around 16# of boost.

I think the stock vortech air inlet is good to 10 psi but after that is becomes a restriction. The mafia comes in the aftercooler kits and is a good idea if you want to up the boost. I wonder if it's possible to buy just the power pipe and some how fabricate the stock MAF to the power pipe?

I'll be doing the same at the same tuner as soon as some backordered parts come in. I'll let you all know how it goes.

We're talking about replacing the restrictive S-shaped air inlet with a smooth pipe, similar to the Anderson Power Pipe, except not ridiculously overpriced.

Something like this, which according to Anderson, makes 2 or 3 more PSI of boost. I'm also taking the opportunity to switch to a blow-through configuration when all of this goes in. I'm hoping to be over 600 rwhp when it's done.

with mine, they took a 99-04 anderson power pipe and a SCT MAF and made it work. air filter is down next to my tire now. quick pic

this is the old set up on it. it looks way better now with a black rubber fitting and the bypass moved but for the most part it still looks the same

Thanks everyone, I don't seem to far out in left field on this one. I will try and make my own fabricated pipe, connect the fittings for the bypass valve hook up and use the factory MAF withe the MAFiA. Hopefully all goes well. Would be great to pick up horsepower and more boost for spending a few bucks.

Don't forget about getting re-tuned. You might also want to take the opportunity to get a bigger MAF and ditch the MAF.ia idea. I used one for a while, until it failed, and will be going with the SCT BA-5000.

he moved it underneath more and hid the lines better. Made it so I can upgrade it easier when the time comes. nothing big though
Thanks.

I have a Mondo, so it won't fit in very many places, but it's going to go between the head unit and the air/air intercooler. It'll vent to atmosphere, should work out OK... I hope.

Its only around $200 without the maf, and the heat shield is really nice. It wouldn't be hard to recreate the actual pipe though.

The big thing it does is the pipe rests on the heatshield above the abs stuff. You would need to make some sort of mount to prop a pipe up there.

Where is your MAF? I don't see a spot for it. I looked on Anderson's website and did not see it the power pipe for the 05-09's but obviously they have it.

How much more boost did you see with the pipe?

I don't know if the heat shield will work on a 10 or not.

It's a blow through maf after the intercooler.

I put it on at the same time as the intercooler, headers, and 3.4 pulley so I don't know if it gained anything.
