So yesterday morning I noticed that i'm having a lighting issue with my 09 Pony. After shutting the car off I noticed that the car had the headlights turned on and the light switch was turned off. After getting out and hitting the lock button one time it still kept the headlights illuminated. Hitting the lock button on the fob twice it turned the lights off. Now it didn't do it anymore yesterday, fast forwarding till today would I had to move my car and the lights were on again even though they were turned off. I locked up the car and the lights were off, but a couple minutes I later I looked outside and they were turned on and then turned off a couple seconds later. The Pony does not have daytime running lights, I was wondering if maybe the car was having a issue with the headlight switch or even if it is having a computer control issue?

Anyone have anything similar to this happen?

Pretty much any weird electrical issues with these cars all lead back to the SJB in the passenger footwell getting wet. Lots of info here on that, you need to remove the rubber flap deal in the firewall because it is packed with crud causing the area to flood when it rains.

My car has always been dry, never any water in it. Infact I had the cowl off the other day to change the cabin filter and it was all clear.

Well after doing some more research I see it's time for yet another dealer trip to have it checked out.

Sjb is probably the answer then, or a relay could be the answer also.

Yeah I am thinking one of the 2. I'll probably send it in at some point and let the dealer diag it.

Well when I say headlights I mean that it's turning on all exterior lights like you would your headlight switch turning the lights on.

Dropped off the car at the dealer, after the car was sitting outside in the middle of the day I walked out to check the mail and the lights turned on, then 2 minutes later turned off.

Well the lights are starting to turn on and off more frequently now. I am hoping that they'll maybe just stay on that way I can take it and get it checked out.

They said that they tested everything and it all worked as it was supposed to. I am taking it somewhere else to get looked at. All I keep getting asked is if I have a ghost in the car lol.

I have finally had the solution after taking it to another dealer and the results were the following.....

Smart Junction Box failure.
Bad headlight switch.

So they guessed and switched out one part and it didn't fix the problem, so they swapped out another part and charged you for both parts. Sounds typical, but glad you got it resolved.
