They don't support my 2014 :(

They do.

You have to get the BETA version. If you have HPTuners, you can email Bill and he can get the available BETA sent to your customer page for download.

You can then read and write your 2014 :)

I am gonna give it a little while to get out of Beta.
My car was a PITA for Lund to tune let alone a novice LOL
I wanna do my own tuning once I start playing with the Nitrous systems on the car more. I wanna try to program my ECM like I would a carb nitrous car with a MSD Dig7. Leave on little timing and ramp timing in instead of pulsing NOS solenoids on Progressive.

I predict an uptick in "I blew my engine" threads.

I see it as really no different than what it has been. People have bought pro racer packages, was there a huge uptick? This software already worked for earlier fords and tons of GM vehicles, was there a huge uptick? If anything a coyote is safer, the closed loop WOT fueling could keep some newbies out of trouble.

It still doesn't allow you to take some other company's tune and replicate it. Just sayin

The tuners who really know how are gonna be just as busy as they ever were. They might even be busier fixing messed up tunes from guys who buy this and get in over their head.

Are you sure? That's one of the things people like about hp tuners. It downloads whatever tune is in the car and saves it as a base tune that is editable.

Unless you know something about engine management it isn't going to do much good anyway imo. In fact that's where I'd predict mechanical problems would come from, someone trying to copy someone else's custom tune and use it on their car. IMO a novice tuner would be better off keeping all the failsafes turned on and experimenting with a real base tune from there.

I wonder if hp will let someone build a base tune from value files based on their mods like sct does? I don't think I'll find out anytime soon as sct Advantage is working just fine for me. If my x3 ever goes out I could see picking up hp. It would be cheaper than buying a new x3 or x4.

It does. Eric has said if you have trouble opening the tune, to send it to them and they'll do it for you

Is HTP still able to put a 'lock' on a file, so that a tuner can keep his file from being read? This was an issue in the GM world a few years ago - not sure if they removed this feature. I know that I haven't run into it a long time.

I wish Ford guys weren't so afraid to self tune. Being able to tune for your own stuff adds a pretty awesome degree of control to your build, being that you aren't dependent on someone else who's probably really busy and at least a couple of hundred miles away.

Agreed 100%. Not that there are that many of us, but how many home-tuned cars have blown up on this forum vs remote tuned cars?

Home tuned hasn't really been an option til now. The cost was a barrier.

Uh...I've been doing it for a few years and I know at least a few others have as well. SCT ProRacer was $350 when I bought it if I remember correctly.

The number of guys putting in the effort and money has been small. I think the number of guys will increase, but don't see a lot of guys jumping at it.

lol, I stated the opposite of what I was trying to say. It still does allow you to take someone else's tune and replicate. Like I said before, its the napster of tuning. Can they even support datalogging yet?

There's going to be a lot of copying of tunes and claiming they wrote it.

I enjoy having the proracer software....I'm no expert at all, but it's nice to make my own adjustments without having to email and wait(unless your dealing with lito, you usually get it 10 min later, lol). Once you have the general parameters and files uploaded it's really not much more to it besides driving and making adjustments.

I asked (and I know a few others did also) for a separate sub forum for tuning . More who do it the easier it gets to get help, SCT forum is usually pretty slow and too many platforms on the same forum.

A separate sub-forum for tuning would be awesome.

I've had HP Tuners for a few years now and I've tuned my previous cars on it. Love learning the new cars and learning how it all comes together.

It'd be nice for a separate section so these threads don't get too lost in here. Theres a lot to learn.

I still haven't downloaded the beta because I'm lazy but I've tuned 40+ gm cars from 400-1200rwhp with it. Great software. If you don't know what you are doing I would stay away and just get a good tune from someone Mike@MAP.

There have been other tools capable of dumping the existing calibration available since last century, this is not something new in that respect. It can even be done with those SCT handhelds, if you know how.

They way some of you guys talk there wouldn't be anyone in the business of calibrating GM cars since HPT is so common there. Yet there are plenty of them doing just fine.

It's not new technology but only a few have access to it. Now everyone can do it by licensing software for $100.
