Ron are you running 1 3/4 long tubes? or 1 5/8?

Im starting to make a list of crap for my na build. Im ready to buy new 1 3/4 kooks headers ( Im using the kooks 1 5/8 now)
i'm still running the hooker 1 5\8 L\T's with full exhaust for now:) it's probably coming off next week along with installing the race seat again.
Jim i think i could have gotten it if it hooked on run #5 i had to launch so soft if killed the 60' next time out i'll spend a little time on the chassis setup.
if i were to change headers it would be for a set of custom 1 5\8 to 1 7\8 step headers with merge collectors. only thing is then you have to re adjust a few things with the timng and fuel to take advantage of the scavenging but heck i'm used to that. i've changed so much crap in 4 years i've worn out threads on stuff and the car only has 16k on it.

I was just thinking... would you ever hook up a 100 shot of juice and see what this thing can do? Maybe if you hit 10.9 on motor and then break the nitrous et record of anything faster then 10.8 you can have the fastest NA / Nitrous S197 :p

He will be setting a lot of records I bet. Ron do you still have that nitrous kit though?

nah it sat on the bench for about 6 months and i finally sold it.didn't install it i never wanted any questions when i was trying to get the stock engine to run 11's
my feeling is if there's a kit on the car it's being used...regardless of whether the bottle is in or not. too many ways to cheat you know.
if the nitrous record is only 10.80 i hinestly believe i can beat that just n\a at some point.
if i can run 10.80 then i might consider running a 200 shot and go for 9's but i'm not sure the trans and converter would be up to that :) may need to make the switch to a 4r70 maybe.
i'm going to a track rental on sunday.same track i ran that 11.89(stock engine) and it's late october again :) pulling off the exhaust, seats and using lots of ice :)
hoping for 10.90's and if the weather gets good like it has been in the past maybe quicker. just need to be able to hook up lauching at about 3000rpms. i'll have all day to work on that. nothing but shock adjustments and air pressure. hopefully they don't kick me out. still no roll bar. looks like i may have to slow it down in rockingham next month if i can't get it in by then. ordering the tubing this week and have go pick up 2-3 hours away. then remove all the interior and bend it up then install\tig in in.... takes forever.

You weenie......mine was done in 12 hours.
yeah but i've got a new contract (medical business) now and just don't have the time i did before. no time during the week to go pickup the tubing and they aren't open on weekends. maybe my fab shop buddy has some i can buy. wish he would do it for free like the other stuff but he's been hurting for work and i can't ask him to do a freeby now.
maybe i can work something out this week.
you're right once the bender is setup it doesn't take long but i'm not a good tig welder...mig really good but no so good with the tig yet. still need lots of practice. always had soemone else doing that :)
anyway that shit is weight which i don't need right now...all i need is one 10.99 pass!!!! kick me out after that. i'll test a couple 1\8 mile runs and if it runs 7.0 then i'll bust it all the way.

impressive, especially at that weight! Did you pull the seats or belt for that run? The mph looks good especially.

NICE!!!! This will definitely be in the s197 news! Do you think you can get mid 10's out of it with a few more tweaks and weight reduction?

9's N/A out of a 3v? :omfg: He'll have to gut that car so much to achieve that.

well it's still capped up so i figure it's got another tenth or so maybe more. i did have the spare tire and pass. seat out but thats all. the first pass it has the street belt on turning all the accessories. on the 10.91 pas it was getting hotter mid day still good weather but if i could run at night uncapped with the race seat in and no pass seat or spare tire who knows maybe 10.70 or even a 10.60 possibly.
remember this was only the second time out with this combo. i've still got to perfect the tune and get the suspension dialed in again.
9's are out of the question with one of these cars. i just couldn't get it light enough unless i fire up the plasma cutter and take some serious weight out.....i haven't ruled that out :)
the 60 foot was just amazing 1.46 with no trans brake and a TCI converter in a stock 5r55s with 4.30 gears and drag radials.
i learned a new trick for launching the car.
i'll tell to after the rockingham race :)

Wow, you're doing VERY good considering that you're not done fine tuning your car. Oh and I can't believe you pulled that 60 foot on DR's. Do you plan on changing to slicks in the future? :)
