Yeah things are really dirty.

How the hell does this flywheel come off the block these ford instructions don't mention a flywheel in the drivetrain or engine pages. I removed the six bolts expecting to take the flywheel off and get to the pilot bearing to replace it and then at least get the clutch and flywheel on tonight but I am stuck again not my day.

Either way I will have the new clutch and flywheel on tonight ready for the trans tomorrow since I should have done it yesterday.

There should be an extra hole in the flywheel. It should be threaded. Put one of the bolts in there and start tightening. Be careful because the flywheel will come right off.

I believe its ~59 ftlbs and use loctite"blue". Take some time and go to autozone, advance, O'reillys and get a Haynes manual for future reference.
$14 or so.

Torque the bolts for the flywheel down to 85 ft/lbs with loc-tite.Which is a big difference from the above. This is from the AM instructions although there are written by and a home installer as well.

No prob, finding the necessary info is what we all need hell I still can;t get the clip to secure properly and getting this bearing out of the crank is a pain.

Are you all the way done besides torqueing back up. I hate that this is taking way longer than it should but hey what ever more knowledge for next time to be quicker finding all the in and outs of the drivetrain.

And thanks for this it came right out although this is stupid you would figure pull would work but it requires positive pushing force in the center.

Just have the bearing and the clip on the slave and then I can start re-install.

Torque is 59 ft. lbs. according to Ford. BTW the whole manual is available online thanks to Louie in Dubai.

Yeah that's the manual I was looking at but you know in the drivetrain section.

This ford manual is fucking retarded for example. Pilot bearing removal instructions: Use special tool to remove pilot bearing that's it.

Clip instructions re-install clip wow big news if it was that easy I would have been done days ago.

Not bashing you I hate this manual.

One more trip to autozone they have the pilot bearing puller(what I got) and the slide hammer separate once again fucking retarted, seeing you never use the jaw attachment without the hammer wish I would have checked so in the end it's my fault.

I guess so they can charge separate rental deposit fees $15 for the puller $30 for the slide hammer.

My autozone here in Alvin had the ford OEM pilot bearing removal tool....$180 to rent! Worked like a charm though my bearing came out in 2 pieces. How did your OE clutch disc look like? I mean, on mine it looked like the friction material was seperating form the thin metal that is sandwhiched between them.

What clip are you talking about? The hydralic line clip that connects to the slave cylinder? I fought with that for 45 min and got covered in clutch fluid. You have to twist the line so the plastic tabs line up, then the clip will slip in.

I have been working on mine for 3 days now. I am to the point that I just need to install the driveshaft, mid-pipe, and pump the air out of the line then test drive. I should finish tomorrow.

Hey does your flywheel have a bunch of bolts with allen head tops on the clutch side? I am looking at the AM customer pics and neither picture looks like my flywheel because these bolts are missing.

I finally went out and started again and got the pilot bearing out and the new one in and went to install the dowel pins off the old flywheel onto the new and realized that the bolt that are all over the clutch side stop it from seating.

This is the new and old and then the picture where I am pointing to the bolts mentioned above. I was thinking that Instead of dowel pins you would take them out and then attack the clutch to the flywheel with those but they don't line up properly.

Here is the link to my flywheel on AM that doesn't have it one of the customer pics.

Flywheel Page:

Clutch page: In this pic this person has the bigger bolts on my flywheel holding the clutch but not the small so I assume I take them all out and then after I install the flywheel and clutch add these to hold them together.

Take the fuckers out, put the flywheels on, using line up tool install the disc and pressure plate, put the fucking bolts back in through the pressure plate. Use dowel pins too.

You're not going to use all the bolts. It looks like there's an outer group of bolts and an inner group. You'll probably going to use the outer. They put the bolts in assuming you would pull them out and use them when needed upon re-assembly.

Yeah that's what I ended up doing I thought that's what it was after seeing the installed clutch picture so I went ahead and did it.

I lost that stupid clip yesterday it came off and hit me in the ye so of course no clue where it went once I find it and get this elbow to secure I can put the trans back in.

I think you are seeing the reason why some Spec clutches fail and others have no problems. The instructions are kind of confusing and not specific to 3V's. When I received my Spec 3+ and flywheel from the factory there were no dowel pins installed or even included. Only after realizing they sent me a 6 bolt flywheel instead of an 8 bolt, and ordered a new 8 bolt Spec flywheel, did they send the dowel pins and those extra bolts(which were not needed).

There were no instructions at all, the dowel pin is not a problem nore really needed since they give you six bolt to attach the flywheel an clutch inserted in the flywheel other than the stock 6 bolts your already going to re-use. It says on AM you need a dowel pin and bolt kit but you don't just use the ones from the factory flywheel and clutch.

What car did you get it for mine is a 6 bolt flywheel but it is supposed to me that way.

I don't get why they will add bolts but wont include a basic set of instructions for each application. AM instructions isn't even a three valve block or a 3650 Transmission which makes it even more retarded.

All in all pieces are quality- Service and help is BS how do you like you Stage3+?

I haven't driven it yet. I just put the engine in the car yesterday. It's too damn cold to be working out in this shit. The instructions do say to use the dowel pins which is what threw me off since the 6 bolt flywheel didn't come with any installed or included. I bought the clutch and flywheel from Spec as an assembly. It did not come with any dowel pins or the smaller bolts. I didn't receive those until I ordered a new 8 bolt flywheel. I pondered why they sent those smaller bolts too since they were not needed.

Almost ready for trans

I found that there is no place for the dowel pins on the new flywheel or the previous mentioned bolts they fit in the spot for the stock hex clutch bolts.

So far I have the clutch fully installed with the exception of torquing it down had to come in to get the specs.

I filled the trans with Royal Purple Syncromax and re-installed the slave.

Note: for future reference the plastic elbow and metal clip fix was nothing that anyone mentioned because as far as that piece is concerned no ones problem was like mine.

The part where the clip slide into was not exposed because the plastic piece was to thick (Picture 1)

My solution was to sand the piece
(Picture 1) that sets against the plastic insert (Picture 2) down about 1/3 cm with rough sand paper, then smooth out with smaller grit and blow out any shavings.

I normally think on my feet but with this job I was very off and did not have quick thinking once so ever, so if you have this problem and you read this do the above step takes 5 minutes and will save lots of headache.
