Street Touring Pony (STP) - It's here!

FINALLY! I will submit a support letter soon. One thing, if the 1993-2002 Camaro is to be allowed (initially), the shared-platform Firebirds and Trans Ams should be as well. Also, they forgot the GTO (I have friends who drive them, although not the most competitive car, STP is where it...

    Common Track Failures

This can also happen do to a few other things: 1. The track makes the car corner dominately in one direction significantly more than another (i.e. track has a lot of hard right hand turns and not a lot of long straights). 2. The rear axle/differential vent is stock or doesn't sufficiently purge...

Long term experience with "extreme performance" DOT tires (5,000 miles or more?)

I've run on RS3 V1 with similar experience to Whiskey11. I've also run RE-11's that had around 15,000 miles on them , 20 autocrosses, an Evo driving school and around 8 track days (all in everything from 30F to 95F, rain and some light snow to bone dry). Pretty solid tire, but not the most...

Best Budget Wheels for Corner Carving

Having looked under a PP S550 and taken reference pictures, it would seem that in order to fit a 10" wheel up front, properly, you'd need something around a 33mm-38mm offset from the hub/mounting pad. To little offset and you might begin to stick out of the wheel well. Too much offset and you...

Best Budget Wheels for Corner Carving

What kind of track use? I've run AMR 18x10 for autox and a few track day type events. I'm not sure I'd trust them as a dedicated track wheel if you frequent road courses. A few here and there they should be OK. Finish on the AMRs seem good for a cheap wheel. Then again, I have SVE Drifts too...

S550 Mustang Suspension and Powertrain Discussion

I'm pretty damn sure it's a TR-3160. Take a look at the picture of the bottom of the transmission case from the teaser videos (#3, 15-17 seconds): http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php/svt-gt350-mustang-5525.html Now, look at this picture from the underbody of an ATS with TR-3160...

What is the best version or year 5.0 ?

There was no real power bump between 2011/12 engines and 2013/14 engines. The 2011-14 engines for the Mustang made the same power. The "bump" is mostly marketing... And Ford went back and forth with the the squirters on MY13 engines.

S550 Mustang Suspension and Powertrain Discussion

Based on having worked for an OEM at one point and an interview I saw with Hameedi about the '13 GT500 when it came out, the reason for the narrower than needed tires for actual performance is the negative steering characteristics (I.e. Pull in grooves). Hameedi said they didn't put larger tires...

Third oil change, tick came back after being gone.

I know this is old, but my car has had a "tick" like described on the passenger side. It is now quiet and I'd like to share my experience. Late January 2012 build 2012 GT. About 34k miles right now. First I added Redline Break In Oil additive (whole bottle; 16 oz.) to oil that needed to be...

Most likely snow-packing or some other environmental testing criteria that couldn't be passed with such a mass-produced, multi-functional vehicle.

S550 Mustang Suspension and Powertrain Discussion

Any thoughts on the increased offset between front and rear track width? S197 F: 62.3" R: 62.9" S550 F: 62.3" R: 64.9" Contributor to some mid-corner understeer due to the larger offset F-R?
