Im not so sure that you need to run water cooled turbos. We've had great luck with the simple oil cooled. The BW turbos are nice and very pricey. Im not sure what you will use to control the electronic Wastegate solenoid though.
We made a billet adapter and still using the sensor from the 11, like mentioned above the factory 2011 sensor is 3 wire, the earlier cars 2. The factory sensor generates the signal so the signal will still be the same only the counts per revolution have changed, which can be modified in the tune.

Length of tube, the longer the lower the c.s.
Diameter of tube, The smaller dia the lower the c.s.
Weight of material, The heavier the the lower the c.s

The 12 quart is likey a fabricated piece that is used on the FR500 (or whatever they are now) race cars, the other is probably the production Boss pan..
The problem is that the "critical speed" of the 3.5in shaft is realitively low. The shaft will basically turn into a jumprope.
The fix is either larger diameter, greater wall thickness or different material. Its a design not install issue.
