I found this little bit of information originally posted by Tasca and then reposted by Kelly over at BMR. It looks like the 2015 Block will be factory reinforced and hopefully won't have any issues that the 11-14 blocks are having. I would imagine it would be able to hold past the 1,000HP mark like the rest of the 4.6 blocks but I guess only time will tell.

You mentioned the reinforcement, but failed to mention what the reinforcement it. Call me dumb but I'm not certain what you're referring to. Is it the extra bit of material on the inboard side of the cylinder in the cooling jacket? Or is there something else I'm missing?

EDIT: it looks like the coolant passages on the outboard side of the cylinders are also smaller, maybe they're not as wide as the previous gen block?

If the diagram is accurate, the lower water jackets do not seem reinforced, IIRC that was where a lot of the issues resided.

Hmmm I always thought that was at the top but maybe I am just thinking of that because of the Sportsman block that Terry broke. But now that you mention it ,IIRC the picture of Sam's friends car was broken at the lower water jacket side of the bore.

My mistake, looks like I might have jumped the gun on that one.

I posted a link to the FRPP coyote block a while ago. I am certain that it is the production engine block.

After looking at the print, and the pic of the FRPP block....it appears that the upper passages are smaller/beefier on the FRPP, compared to the pic above.

Umm.. your going to trust technical engine information from Kelly that "CANT" make a simple axle brace for s197s? :poke:

It is the bottom water passages/cylinder walls that are cracking. Those look smaller but not as small as what some shops are doing out there. I dont see it holding anymore power than the current block.

You may be surprised by by how little material it take to significantly increase strength

I asked Mike at L&M if he had heard about the 2015+ block and he did say they are a upgrade for strength. It also appears that there may not be a FRPP "performance" block anymore, they will be one in the same, from first comments anyway.

With the 2015 having stronger rods(Boss IIRC) and possibly a stronger block, I still can't believe they left the pistons untouched. Pretty lame to pull an engine to upgrade just the pistons.

It's always been the upper jackets that has had the problem.

Good info on the new block. I saw that picture in my system a week ago, but didn't pick up on the reinforced jackets.

And for what it's worth, the pistons are a new part number, so they could be better...

Ford is in business to sell cars at a profit point they feel comfortable with. If that means selling the cars with hyper pistons that's their prerogative.
