Once again thanks niner and others for all the input! Like Chris said the car just feels and sounds 100x better! That was a learning experience to say the least. LOL

You should run those cams you have and get TFS adjustable crank sprockets and retard by 6 or so degrees.

We thought about going with adjustable cam gears, but decided against it for now. I have an email out to Nick at Modular Head Shop to get custom ground cams. If that doesnt work out, we will be looking to get the bbr stage 2's.

One phaser tooth equals 8.57 degrees and doesn't cost a thing.

8.5 x 2 = 17 Now he has no bottom end. Niner is right, to get proper balance from the cam and tune, they need to be degreeded.

8.57 x 1 = 8.57. One tooth on each phaser. That would bring stock cams to -2 as they are built with 7 degrees of advance in order to take advantage of vct.

Edit: Looked up stock vct figures. Most cells in the cruising range are around 40 degrees of retard. At wot 0 degrees is commanded to 3750 rpm, then it progresses to 9. This is with IRMC open.

If your friend has the time and patience then dataloging airflow with different amounts of retard would help figure out what works best at all rpms. It's pretty easy to do with vct and tuning software but would require alot of wrenching with them locked out. In any case good luck with the project.
