ok so I bought the griots garage da with a 6 pack full of the 6" pads with the 6" backing plate. I have a feeling that doing some edges on my 2010 mustang and other cars especially trucks that have fender flares isn't going to be easily done with the 6" ones without manipulating the pad on its sides ( which i'm not sure if its good or bad or doesn't matter? somebody please comment on that) so should i get some 3" pads and plate or a 5" pads and plate.. thanks

Exactly why I suggested you get the GG kit with the 5.5" pads. As you begin working on various vehicles, body lines will be different thus you'll need different size pads. 4" pads should cover most bases when you can't use a 5.5" pad...
