Does anybody have experience with 4.10 gears in a 08 5 speed gt on 18 wheels?

I had that set up with 4.56 gears and loved it. 28 inch tall tire is a must.

If this is a serious question, overall tire diameter matters more for final drive ratio than the wheel diameter. 28" tires with 4.10s is a common setup. For an NA car that sees a lot of drag strip time you may want 4.30s.

I had 4.10's for a long time on my 07. I enjoyed them and never had any issues. I don't drive it daily anymore so I switched to 4.56's.

Love 4.10's in my 05 5spd with stock 235/55/17 tires. Mileage only went down 1 MPG.

Someone on FB said Motive makes the gears for FRPP. Is there any truth in that?

No, the FRPP 8.8" ring/pinion sets are made by Ford's Sterling Axle Plant.

Ford did source some 3.55/3.73 R/P from Motive 15yrs years ago when they had a recall to replace the ring/pinion on some of the trucks due to gear whine.

That being sed, gear whine is all in the setup, I installed a used set of Motive 3.90's, it took me a couple tries but I got them running quiet, I swapped the 3.90's out for 3.08's when I did my 6R80 swap last year.

I ran 4.10's for a while with the stock .68 OD, they were a little too much with a 27" tire, I was turning 2800rpm on the interstate at 80mph.

I picked up a G-Force geared 5sp with a .58 OD and ran 4.56's for a couple years, even with my TVS that was a killer drag strip combo, I was having to grab 4th around 450' on the 1/8th mile and then had a long 4th gear pull on the 1/4 .. I was trapping 136@7500rpm with that setup.

Why? I have run Richmond gears in all of my cars without any issues. Currently have Richmond 4.10's hooked to an Auburn Pro. Never had any whining or other issues.

$50 or $60 is a small price for me to pay for the peace of mind, but that is me. Don't know of any failures of the Ford gears so it guess you are right. Just the way you said it made it sound like all other gears were crap. Richmond has been my go to company for gears for the last 30 or so years. But if you want cheaper go with The Ford Performance ones.
