Bought an 11 5.0 in non-running condition last week. Engine was locked up so we pulled it and this is what we found:
The ONLY mod on the entire car is an air intake, no tune required. 2011 with 30k miles:

Well.... I did buy it from an auction not knowing what to expect. I bought a total of 3 non-running ones. Got lucky on the other two. This one got me. It doesn't look like it's been modded before, of course that doesn't mean it wasn't. I am looking for a short block or long block if anyone has one.

I really am curious as to what would cause that type of failure. I've never seen one let go like that.

I wish we were close, I'd sell you mine.

I swear it complies with the following :

>adult driven
>never raced
>never goes above 3K RPM
>I don't even know what a supercharger is

A tune with 3v spark advances and the knock sensors turned off. Some "Big name" tuners did exactly that when the 5.0 first came out and motors were having catastrophic failure as a result.

I was thinking the same thing. I remember the pictures from when these first came out and they reminded me of some of the things I had seen. Although, I don't recall the cylinder wall breaking like that.

No sir, this is another blue one.

what does a non running - unknown issue - car sell for at auction?

Well, this one we gave $13,000 for. It's a 2011 with 30k miles, premium GT.
I bought another 2014 base 5.0 with 19k miles for $12,500 that was only missing some minor parts.
Also another 2012 with 100k miles that needed a clutch and master cylinder for $9800.

Good freaking grief it seems like you could make some major money buying these cars. How do they wind up at auction all jacked - former owner ruins them and then trades them off, dealers then just dump?
