OK, you can see my build in my signatire, but with a 326 stroker and a Novi 2200 pushing about 12lbs of boost, I dyno'ed at 540 whp/530wtq on a hot August day. So it may be capable of more.

The down sides of my setup:

I run on 28.75" tall NT555R's (305/45/18's)
I have 4.56 gears (which are effectively 4.30 with the taller tires)
I have the stock 5-speed TR-3650

I'm going to head to the track this spring for a little trial an error (launch techniques and shift points) but anyone have any thoughts around the TR-3650 vs TR-6060 for the 1/4 mile? I don't wanna do an auto conversion as I like cruising and love rowing through the gears.

Yes, 1st gear is fairly aggressive and very short but I think I can adjust my launch. Plus, below 3500 RPMs, it's really all motor and gears. The Novi doesn't start to really kick in until I'm above 3500 RPMs.

Just thinking ahead around transmissions. Especially if I pulley down again and push the power into the 600's or more. Thoughts and/or experience?

Even if you pulley for more power, I think you'll still be short on torque for the 2.66 1st gear ratio of the tr6060. If your already low rear gear feels right for you now, along with the very low 1st gear on your stock trans, I think you'll be wanting to re-gear your already pretty low rear gears if you swap to the 6060. I had a very torque rich 04 Cobra, and when I swapped in a solid rear end, I went with 4.10 gears, and wish I would've went with 4.30's, or maybe 4.56's because of that goofy ass 2.66 1st gear ratio on 28" tires.

If you can currently shift your stocker well, I'd at least run it until it breaks, and it probably won't? I can't speak for your trans or the 6060, but the T56 was a pita to power-shift compared to damn near anything I've ever driven, and if your current set-up is shifting nicely for you, I would not mess with success in your case.

I was only at 507RWHP and 475RWT compared to your setup, and had no issue with my T3650. Exedy Mach 500 Clutch setup and Exedy Flywheel along with the FRPP feedline kept everything happy with a 3.55 diff gear and factory DS on 27" tires. As mentioned, if it ain't broke yet and its shifting fine, don't fix it. MGW shifter would be a nice addition as food for thought. Granted you are at a point where the 10 spline input shaft may twist at some point, but for that matter I believe there is a 26 spline upgrade option for the 3650.

Only the 2013 and 2014 version have the 2.66 first gear, most have the 2.97 first gear.

I guess it depends on your philosophy, you can "ride 'er 'til she bucks you off", or prepare ahead of time.

As for when the 10 spline input shaft breaks, it is really a matter of traction, luck, and how aggressive of a clutch that you have. The 26 spline input shaft alleviates that but you still have a transmission that is super notchy.

I made the mistake of driving a car with a TR6060 and I knew that I would never be happy with my TR3650 ever again. Even with the cheap Ford Racing shifter, it felt so nice compared to my 3650 with a Barton shifter, Mach 500 clutch, and a WOT box with the no-lift shifting. It's like the difference between cutting prime rib with a sharp knife vs chopping wood with a dull axe.

I recently picked up a TR6060 so my vote is to upgrade, you get the power handling and the much improved shift feel. If your budget is a bit bigger, might as well go with the Magnum and get even better shifting and an SFI approved bellhousing.

I was told a take-off TR-6060 would be the best bang for the buck.

It definitely is. You can buy a rebuilt one from Astro performance for $1795. You'll need a 26 spline clutch, a shifter, the driveshaft, and a cross member, and perhaps some other odds and ends but it is by far and away the most cost effective option-and it is a simple swap.

TR-6060 all the way. Stronger, smoother.
As already stated though, your gearing may need to change. With 410's and a 6060, 1st gear was pretty-much useless.

Worse than my TR-3650 and 4.56 gears? (effectively 4.30" with 28.75" rear tires)

1st and 2nd pending on what year tranny the 6060 is I believe is about 13% taller. I went from a 3650 with 4.10's to the 6060 with 4.10's both had 28" tire... 6060 mush better in all aspects, period... my 1st gear is perfect, far from useless ... car makes 500 to wheels...

I like hearing that! I guess a rebuilt TR6060 and MGW shifted setup is in my future!
