Ah, nothing like the look of fresh rotors and painted calipers

Had to replace the pads and rotors out back in order to pass state inspection so I threw on a new set of Centric 125 rotors and Centric ceramic pads. Took the opportunity to paint the rotor hub/edge and paint the calipers while I was at it. Unfortunately only able to finish one off as one of the mounting bolts on the passenger bracket was rusted solid to the bracket so I had to order a new caliper bracket and bolt set. Frustrating not to be able to finish it up but I'll use the down time to power wash the wheel wells and shoot it with some fresh undercoating.

Have any pics with the wheels installed? I never thought about painting the middle part looks good.

Just reread you can't finish it yet but post a pic once it's done. I would like to see how it turned out.

See below. I finished the one I could.

Looks good! What kind of paint did you use on the calipers?

It's the VHT caliper paint that comes in the metal tin (applied with a brush). The rotor portions were the VHT caliper paint from the spray can.

LOL. I had actually thought about painting the back of the pad but thought better of it. Didn't think it would be a good idea to try and pry the pads off the caliper when it comes time to change them.

It's the VHT caliper paint. Four coats on the caliper and the rotor. Supposed to be good up to 900 degrees. Let's just hope my prep work was good enough.

Turned out great. Hopefully the paint holds up.

Hopefully. At least with the metal tin stuff I can go back and touch it up if I need too.

Can never be too careful about overspray ( prep for the undercoating in the wheel well).

Photos a bit washed out from direct sunlight.

Honestly, I'm a bit ashamed that I allowed the pads to get down this far. I really need to do a better job about regular maintenance and upkeep.

Looks good, but if you start noticing a new high speed vibration it may be because you painted where the wheel mates with the hub. I used the G2 (which is thicker) but it imbalanced my subaru, had to take a wire wheel to them. Mustang seems ok thus far.

Looks good man, I did the same thing to my front and rear rotors on my 13. I rented the tool and took the rear brakes apart just to paint them. I cant stand looking at mustangs with nice wheels and corrosion on the brake rotors. It bothers me when I see people post pictures of the cars with rusted rotors because that's all I can look at is the rust lol.

Interesting and makes total sense. Hopefully not enough on there to make too much difference.

I'll be honest, I didn't paint the backsides. Just what was visible and then a little bit more to be safe. I didn't put any paint near the clips either as I was concerned they might not come off so well in the future when I'd have to change the pads out again. It's amazing how much difference it makes visually though. Really makes the wheels pop.

Good job! Looks a million times better. I'm a big fan of the brush on caliper paint. I used duplicolor brush on paint on my 07 GT/CS. If you get any chips, it's so easy to touch up and keep looking nice.

That was my thought as well, being able to go back and do touchups when needed.

Looks great. Glad you recognized the need to do inside the wheel wells also!

Oh yeah. When I get to the front I'm going to take the splash guards out and clean/detail those as well.
