Alternator rebuild

Alternator started going south, check charging system on dash, loud high pitched sound that changed in pitch with engine rpm, and would drop down to just battery voltage when car was idling about half the time.
It stopped all that later in the day, but I knew it was only a matter of time before it failed completely.

There's a local place, been in business 56 years, that was able to have it rebuilt in less than 3 hours, much less than it would cost at a parts store or rockauto, and it's not some unknown unit. Comes with a warranty, super nice guys.

Surprised there are still local shops that perform this service any longer. I'm guessing they're few and far between though.

Yeah I have a shop like that in the next county and they are the best. That alternator will last you a long time.

They are probably an electrical specialist. We have a few near us. They get all the bastard electrical cars.

If it lasts as long as it did originally, I will be a happy customer. I can't complain as it's 13 years old and 222k miles.

when i started out as mech we rebuilt everything, carb, starter, alt,, the shop closes to me shut down 2 years ago, napa was goto for rebuild kits.
ya know how that story go`s
