Hey guys, I purchased my dream 06 GT about two months ago and I've been in love with it since. However, I do have some questions about a few things I've noticed, and I wanted more insight as to whether or not they were normal for these cars.
- The AUTOMATIC shifter/shiftknob: Is it supposed to be and feel clunky when shifting from say PARK to DRIVE? Is it normal for the shiftknob to be a little finnicky before it clicks into the right gear? If it isn't normal, does this mean I should change out the tranny fluid and possibly rear diff fluid?
- Stock Intake Noise: I notice that every time I get on throttle, I hear this beautiful sounding intake noise/whistle; and while it sounds incredible I'm wondering if this is normal for these cars. This is my second car and I'm coming from a turbo'd 4 banger which had no where near as much intake sound as the V8 seems to in my Mustang (which makes sense since it's a much bigger motor). I just worry that there's some kind of leak somewhere in the intake that's causing that nice whistle, causing me to possibly lose power. I'm aware that if this was the case I'd most likely be getting some kind of code on the dash but I just want to be sure. Also, if this is normal, does the sound get even better after installing a cone/pod filter with a tune? I just can't imagine it being much better than the (hopefully) stock sounding intake noise.
- Parking Brake/E-Brake: Is it normal for these cars to have a fairly weak e-brake? The car will still roll back if in neutral on a slight hill with the e-brake applied (I don't park my car like this, it's an automatic, but I wanted to check if the e-brake was in good condition so I tested it like this). The car does have some resistance compared to when the e-brake is completely disengaged, but I ask because my old car wouldn't roll back at all in this same scenario (2014 Hyundai with manual e-brake lever as well). I'm just wondering if it's worn out and needs to be serviced, or if they were just made with less resistance in older vehicles.
