With proper maintenance, what kind of service life can you expect out of these 3v motors?
I'm looking at a used 2006 with 150,000 miles.
Car is clean and runs good. Just wondering what to expect before a rebuild.

I got 160k on my 05 and still pulls strong. I got the basic bolt ons and hot rod cams... Still definitely faster than my wife's low mileage GT vert, and haven't noticed a loss at all in the "butt" dyno. Still pulls all the way till it pegs the speedo also, so yeah... These 3v's hold up good.

I have 2, and have put 180 k on between the 2 of them, with 80 K being with at least 9.5 pounds of boast. I have had no issues with the engines. Only issues is alternator replaced 3 times on one, only because Ford replaced it with the crap reconditioned ones. I did blow a automatic transmission after doing a 25 mile road race at an average speed of 120 mph on the car that already had 100 k on it. I believe it was simply the heat, may get a trans cooler. That was rebuilt completely friend owns 5 transmission shops, and no other issues. My 2007 GT with a Vortech Supercharger HO at 440 to the ground runs like a top, no smoke, no rough, no nothing, I can expect to get 180k out of it then I will replace the lower end of the motor and pump it up to 555 hp to the ground.

200000 miles on mine (326000 KM)
good maintenance but other than that I run it hard, live in canada and have driven it in hot weather, freezing weather, in snow and ice and gravel roads.

My old 3v 5.4 in an 09 F150 that my son now drives has 308,000 and running strong. Never touched anything besides the oil, filter ect. Hell, it has never even had a trans service. Ford recommended it at 150k and I was like, hell, there is no way I am disturbing that trans with 150k on it. Runs like new.

Well I pulled the trigger and purchased the car. It's a 2007 and it now has 161,000 on it.

A good idea is to change every single fluid in the car. Rear diff, coolant, brake fluid...everything. Watch your engine oil closely until you have an idea of consumption.

Can I ask how much you paid for it? I see complete stock 3v motors for sale here all the time. Just saying, worse case scenario. My motor is just over 100,000 miles and has at least 300 passes on it. It has ran as high as 10psi at the track but now stays at 8psi. I've gone through two stock transmissions, a eaton rear, and god knows what else but the motor is still strong as hell:thumb:
