Gotcha. That front tire is stretched. I thought it was bulging because the side wall came so far out. Well, that is my problem, finding tires that fit square, are wide as possible, and are close to the same height on staggered wheels. So then if the 255/45 is stretched on a 9.5", the 265/40 may be perfect on a 9"?

This is a 275/40/19 on a 9"-wide Brembo wheel.
I would run that with no worries whatsoever

255/45 and 285/40 were the 2008-era GT500 tire sizes, both mounted on the same 18x9.5 wheels. The front tires are kind of a minimum size for the wheel, and the rear tires a maximum.

305/40's shouldn't be mounted on wheels any narrower than 10".

Visually, there isn't a whole lot of width difference between 255/45's and 265/40's when they're both mounted on 9.5" wide wheels. I ran the 255/45's for 20,000 miles, and I've had the 265/40's on for maybe a thousand or two. Just a smidgen of sidewall out past the wheel flanges, so neither setup has a crazy Euro-stretch look about it.

265/40 on 9.5" wide wheels handles OK, but I can't say any better than 255/45's on the same wheels.

Bulging is when the sidewall hangs way out past the wheel, like tires used to look like when 60-series was the ultra-low profile. 45 and lower profile tires aren't supposed to even look like that.

These are Shelby CS56 wheels, 18x9.5, same offset as the 07-09 GT500 wheels 45mm, with 275-40 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires:

Thank you for all the helpful info Norm. I am going with the 255/40/19 in the front on the 9" wheel. Besides being $100 cheaper, which is really no big deal, the 265 are not in stock at tire rack, and if there is a slight difference in look, and none in handling, then 255 it is.

Hey Frank, those Saleen Parnelli wheels are f'n sexy!!!! I really dig those, not sure if I've ever seen them. Sexy!!! The 275 do look great on those wheels, I want to get the 275, but I am erring on the side of caution and going with the recommended size from tire rack. Basically because of money and time spent reselling of sending them back if they don't look as great on the Boss wheels. Thanks for the pics guys, they really do help me in making decisions. Thanks again all!

You've probably seen the Parnelli wheels on the orange Parnelli Mustangs, but painted in their standard silver. Someone had these powder coated before selling them to me.

Thanks Frank. I recognize them now. They look sexy in black tho. I saw one at a car show in NY, and I believe there were a few at Carlisle or American a Muscle. I forget which one. I think I dig them better than the Shelby wheels.

Thank you all for your help. I don't know how to post pics from my phone, so I changed my signature pic. Hope you guys can see the pic with the new wheels. I really dig them, think they go well with the Legend Lime. I like the stance. I put 265/40/19 on the the front 9" wheel, and 295/35/19 on the rear 10" wheel.
Let me know what you think. Thanks again everyone.
