Brake Power Booster question

I have a 2005 GT with 29,000 miles. Started hearing a hissing sound in the cabin when I appied the brakes - pedal hard - basucally lost the power brakes. Checked vacuum hose feeding the booster - plenty of vacuum. Mechanic tells me its a seal in the power booster (non serviceable) but that that item should last 100k plus miles. I do have aftermarket big brake kit in the front. Could this cause the power booster to fail? is the S197 prone to this kind of failure?

No they arent prone to breaking on these cars, does sound liek thats the problem. Easy cheapest fix is to find a brake booster canister from the junkyard and swap it out.
