This is the new prototype 5.0 Coyote block.

JPC is going to be testing this in the up and coming weeks. this should take care of all the problems!

Im glad Ford Stepped up their game an addressed the issue!!

That's a HUGE difference in the weakest area. Nice to see they addressed it.

For those who don't know what you're looking at, look at the area at the top of the cylinder between the cylinder and the coolant jacket. You can see the lack of material/support and is the hottest part of the cylinder:

Is this the same block used it 5.0 GT's with the oil squirters?

The broken block I posted a picture of was an 11 GT block. The '13 block is no different in that area. The block posted by JPC is not available yet, and FAR superior to any current/prior production coyote block.

You get a glimpse at how long it takes to run the entire identify problem to real iron product cycle. LOL, the main reason they probably improved the block was for future product HP, not for the guys hotrodding.

The "problem" area is only if you're making over 700 hp or so. This new block is for the guys looking to make more than that reliably. It's like calling the stock rods a problem. Considering the power they'll handle, and the power the majority of guys are making, they're not a problem. It's when guys are looking to push them beyond that when they become a "problem."

thanks for the clarification 19cobra93 :thumb2:

this is interesting to say the least... wonder why they felt the need to strengthen that area for a production vehicle?

This new block isn't for a production vehicle. This is new through Ford Racing, not Ford OEM. This was specifically developed for high hp applications, but could very easily be run on a street car as well.

Hopefully JPC will chime in with more info.

Ah crap, I guess I misread the postings on here. Either way, glad to see they're strengthening these blocks
