eliminating in car sound tube

I have mixed feelings about it. It does sound sorta nice, but my racer mentality tells me to eliminate unnecessary things.
Also, its kinda rice IMHO, even if it is OEM. If someone were to make their own "sound tube" everybody would call them a ricer, myself included.
So basically Im calling the guys at Ford a bunch of ricers ^__^

Go to oriely/autozone. They sell grommets, I promise.

Seems the opening in the firewall is 1-1/8". Now to find one of these body plugs in that size...
