You need to understand that they are not DOT approved for street use. Lots of people use them but you must accept the liability if they fail due to normal road hazards.

its not "we think" it will happen

But if it does break while your driving down the interstate at speed, you will be liable. Insurance probably wouldnt cover it finding out you had a non DOT wheel while driving on the road.

If you need to daily drive on them, get the 17x7 fronts and some 215 or 225 standard radial tires for them.

I had 17x7 fronts and 15x8 rears on my 2011 (and will have the same on my 2012 very soon) and I absolutely could have driven on them every day. I have no experience with the 4.5" front but I would think it's real sketchy on the front of a 3600lb car, especially on the street.

I was going to say the same thing. 17x4.5 with a 185 tire will be a joke in a panic stop situation. I agree with a 17x7 for daily use with either a 225 or 235 tire. Also as others have stated you assume all risk with running a non-dot wheel on the street. Lots of people do it, but that doesn't make it legal.

Would never consider daily driving a skinny tire. Emergency turning and braking is basically non-existent.

For the last two years I've been running only my drag setup on the street, 15x10 in the back and 17x5 up front. My car is not a daily driver but just a fun weekend car. Lots of guys would post that front runners were not a viable street option but I would just ignore them since I felt differently. Well I just recently sold my 17x5 front runners and ordered a more street friendly 17x7. It took two years for me to get it but I was not comfortable with the way the brakes felt especially when my wife and daughter are with me. Lesson learned.

All I have for the last several years. Not my DD though. 15x10 and 15x4's wrap in Mickey Thompson Tires. . No problem at all on the street or highway. I have hit some pot holes and other things with no issues. Not scary or crazy like some post about the skinnies up front. Doesnt feel awkward at all.

I am comfortable driving on my racestars the 30 miles to the local track, but would not be seen driving on them to and from work every day. Thats just lazy and asking for trouble.
