Anyone used the dual 62mm TB designed by Granatelli motorsports?

I've heard some bad things about the BBK's reliability (related to design) and wanted to see if anyone had any feedback on the GMS version.

Any noticable power gains? Worth the investment? etc?

Go with a GT500 they are a stock TB and therefore have stock reliability. For a n/a car or a blow through TB you won't see much HP.

I had the BBK and it worked with no problems, i think people mess up when it comes to clocking the spring. If you take your stock TB motor off and put it back on without clocking the spring right, it'll go into fail safe. You need to have either heads, cams(or both) or FI for the TB to give any gain. They say the stock TB can handle up to 450hp i believe.

I have had good luck with the BBK TB so far, but I am also running a whipple with 16psi boost, so it was worth it. N/A I doubt you would have any significant gains unless you were running full bolt ons and running aftermarket cams/heads.

you are one of the few with the
BBK that haven't turned it into a doorstop or a paper weight. all the horror stories of the BBK leaving people stranded on the side of the road are still fresh in my memory

I have it on mine. Here is what I came to learn about it.

1. NO hp gain
2. because the TB is all small ass gearing, they tend to clatter on a lot of the aftermarket TB. Esp BBK from what I have read and seen.
3. You will want to replace the TPS on the side of the TB with a newer Ford TPS. DO this because they sensor has medal/aluminum rings around the clips that connect to the TB and keep it from vibrating.

* if it vibrates, you car will switch to FAILSAFE MODE(no power and cannot rev over 2k rpm's) which mine did a lot before I swapped the TPS.
4. I noticed that the car would idle high when started cold too with this this TB. When I swapped the TPS out, the high idling stopped.

conclusion: your stock TB is fine. I was reading back when all the TB's came out, that the second most not needed mod was the TB. First was pullies. This is the same with n/a 96-04 mod stangs.

Yes, I am one of the lucky few. And on top of that, my et dropped significiantly due to the stock TB being the restriction at 16psi.

This week I will finally be going with the large accufab monoblade with the st motorsports blower intake and intake tube. Hoping for 580+rwhp. Anyone want to buy my BBK throttle body? I will sell it cheeeaaaaaap.........
