Do your FRPP gears whine?
I can tell you as a Fact I have (No-Gear-Whine) period.

But that all depends on the person doing the install.

And in my (Opinion) there are not a lot of really Qualified Techs that can do it "RIGHT".

There should be No-Gear-Whine if it is done Correctly.

The above remarks on Gear Whine are Not really in this case an Opinion.

They are based on me and my 40 plus yrs. of performance vehicles.

Plus the past 13 yrs. working at Dealers in Service (Not a -Tech).

My factory 3.55s are dead quiet. That's why I am not changing them. I wouldn't mind having 4.10s, but it's not worth the risk.

only thing i notice is a very tiny bit under decel, but thats normal. when i put my gears in i didnt have to change the shims at all, it went pretty easy. but ive heard the new frpp gears are now motive gears which ive heard have problems with tolerances and therefore, whine.

My gears did have a slight whine, but I got impatient during the break-in process. I changed out the oil and added some friction modifier and it went away.

I know there is/was some debate about FRPP gears and who does or doesn't make them. I bought mine from Steeda, so whereever they get theirs is where I get mine.

I had a set of gears installed before these and they were the worst thing ever, but I think it was the shop. Guy told me that they didn't even know what the sound was when I took him for a ride. I fully subscribe to the 'properly installed gears don't whine' logic.

Same tech has done my gears in the last 3 cars, all FRPP's, and never any whining. 4.10's in my '07 GT, 4.30's in my '03 Mach 1, 4.10's in my '93 5.0L T-Bird, and 3.73's in my '89 5.0L Mustang. IMO, it's all in the install.

I agree it is all in the install. My FRPP 4.10's have some whine now.....switching to 4.30's this Friday (also using different shop for install)
