Looks like he used the signal wire from the box, and bypassed everything else. The load wire to the relay is the one that really gets fried. FYI, all but over of the cars I've done this mod on were stock, untuned cars.

Yeah I don’t think the previous owner knew what he was doing. I am also very unfamiliar with this, does anyone have a diagram or a how to to properly do the wiring right?

Here is the wiring diagram: https://iihs.net/fsm/?d=40&f=Cooling Fan.pdf

Dead simple circuit. If you connect 12v across the relay (out of the car) pins 85/86; the relay will activate (audible click) and pins 30, 87 will have continuity (dead short). You can test this with a VOM (ohms) and a 12v supply. The idea is when temps reach the trigger points (low/hi) the PCM provides a ground to activate one of the relays; which provides high current B+ to the radiator fan motor.

To ID pin assignments see:

Another Mustang fan saga that may be of interest:

Another example; incl fuse block w/burned connector:

Note: Last vid shows how simple it is to remove the burned connector.

These should be a sticky… GREAT info on how to resolve a common problem.
