If they are going to be track wheels, 8.5" would be kind of backwards I would think. I think the GT500's and Brembo's are 9" (or more depending which GT500 wheel he is referring to).

18x10 drifts are super cheap. And they're lighter than 07-09 gt500 wheels. Just saying.

SVE Drifts are on my radar.

Only reason I say 07-09 is because my dad's 09 GT500 will likely get a new set of wheels soon. So unless I'm going to find SVE Drifts for free...the GT500s will be my first choice depending what he does. If I get impatient, 18x10 SVE Drifts it is. I haven't thought about tires just yet.

Fair enough. For the 9.5" wheel I'd go with a 285/35-18 hankook rs3.

For wheels that are only 9.5" wide, I think 265/40's would be a valid alternative. There's hardly any difference in tread width and there's less sidewall bulge to soften the cornering response.
