I just noticed a pretty massive leak from my engine coolant cap. I read in another thread that they can develop a leak but I'm worried about it overheating. My temp gauge is sitting dead centre so all is well there but can I really trust it?

Im very new to the car scene. I have zero experience. Parents never really had any interest in nice cars. Any info is greatly appreciated.

.......oh and don't tell me my flux capacitor is butsified I know how you guys like to fuck with people.

Remember you have alot of coolant in the car, if the coolant in the motor at the time is good then it will read fine. after it opened up the thermostat 1-2 times and noticed a lack of coolant then the gauge would of started climbing like me looking at porn

ill say this much, they are idiot gauges. my oil pressure gauge said all was well, meanwhile my oil pressure was at 6 psi. ended up destroying my engine. if you are really concerned, get a full set of aftermarkets. they are worth the peace of mind

the real question is why is it leaking at the cap? Replace the cap and try and stop the leak.Might be a cheap fix for an expensive repair.

Bullshit. The temp gauge at the dash reads head temp, not coolant temp.
