I was cleaning my garage and saw my stock airbox collecting dust.
And I just noticed this thing attached to bottom of intake pipe.
Anybody know what this is for?

Ford doesn't list it as a separate part. Intake tube is just one number.

Maybe it's a sound chamber to give that cold air whine? lol Hard to say without seeing it in real life.

Helmholtz resonance chamber, it utilizes the same effect that you get when you blow across the opening of a bottle.
It can be used to boost power at specific RPM ranges, and it can also be used to reduce noise. I suspect in this case its reducing noise, but its hard to say for sure.

There are some vehicles that will see pretty dramatic losses when these chambers are removed.

IIRC, early '05 GTs w/automatics had those. As stated, it was supposedly for reducing intake noise. We called it the "taint".

We have 2 large, kidney shaped resonators on the stock Bullitt intake tube. Removing them causes no harm & does not increase noise. Lots of Bullitt owners remove them just to clean up the appearance on the intake.
