I raced a turbo Probe for many years. I am well aware of where they came from. They began development on it in 1979. It was never designed to replace the Mustang, just a misplaced idea that never came to be. You can go on ProbeTalk.com and find my posts under the same user name, lol. ]
Of course the SN95 is archaic compared to a modern Mustang, as it should be.

There is some older cat who runs a monster Probe out here and damn... Car is a straight killer... I've just always wanted more when I ran a fox and SN95 when I had them. Just never had the right money to throw into them I guess.

For me it is the 10-12 that look the best, the rear of the 05-09 looks tits and the front looks nice but the 10-12 kills it. The 13-14 just looks like a crosseyed catfish when you look at it dead on.

That Black ZL1 you had on Instagram was pretty sweet!

You have to be kidding me? The SN95 is the worst looking post fox body Mustang they made.

I'm similar on your 05+ assessment, 05-09 overall best but 10-12 front very nice . The 13-14 front has a piggish snout to me

Disagree on sn95, the 98 cobra in bright Atlantic blue is tits

I was telling somebody this just the other night at a meet. I still remember when they went from the Fox to the SN95. I've always hated it. This new body style feels a lot like that change with all the roundness to it. I hate it.

Same here...Not really an 05-09 fan either though. Last Mustang I purchased new before my 13 was my wifes 02 GT. I still love the New Edge cars!

05-09 is still my all time favorite body style. California special trim being the best look for it as well.
I appreciate all the styles though and think the new styles look awesome too.

Ford got a LOT of feedback from customers in the late '80s about the decision to drop the Mustang. But they didn't build the SN95 cars because of that outcry - it was actually the U.A.W. that saved the Mustang. It meant a loss of American assembly line jobs and they wouldn't go for that.

In John Coletti's own words:
"... about 1988, Ford made Coletti the design manager for the Tempo, the Escort and the Mustang. One caveat, though: Ford planned to axe all three cars. The United Auto Workers union had arranged a reprieve for the Mustang through the 1993 model year, but all bets were off afterward.

"The Mustang really was scheduled to die," Coletti said. "But at some big meetings, I made the point that the car that was supposed to replace the Mustang wasn't really a Mustang. The real issue was that the program we liked we couldn't afford, and the program we could afford, we didn't like.

"So (Executive Vice President Alex) Trotman got word and came over to me and said, 'O.K., wise guy, put a team together and come up with something better.' I figured, why not? They expected me to fail, so the worst that could happen is that I met their expectations."

Team Mustang instead succeeded when they brought to market the 1994 Mustang, code-named SN95 and eliminated any rumors of the pony car's impending demise."

Best looking modern Mustang is the '10-12. Best looking classic Mustang is the '69-70 fastback.

PS - Being from Texas, I'm generally anti-union. But the UAW story above is why I proudly rock the oval-shaped UAW sticker in the quarter window of my Mustang. It's a small nod to the folks that have supported and built the Mustang for fifty years.

I agree with the OP....the s550 looks, design wise, like it should have came before the 05+ body styles...it still doesn't do it for me though...I love the dead on view from the rear, sexy as hell..front..meh doesnt scream Mustang, and that side profile still to this day reminds me of a 2 door accord

I was a huge sn95 guy, but after owning that and then an s197..it got blown out of the water, just as I'm sure will happen when the the s550 hits the road

still waiting to see it in person though to change my mind...

Wrong forum, Cam. You gotta go over the SVTperformance to post that type of nonsense!

Just letting everyone know that the terminator is amazing. The DOHC, supercharged, 4.6 liters of zeus-like power matted to the iron fist T-56 with a IRS that is more agile than a 95lb 18-year old birthday girl.

just the facts bro. the terminator > every car ever made. I know a guy who destroyed a veyron and a 1000awhp R35 from a dig with just a pulley and tune.

Personally I would love to have a '95 5.0 Stang. They're the 1st Mustang I remember thinking were sweet. I always respected the Fox for what it was (cheap and easy to mod) but never could fall in love with their economy car looks. The new edge stang's are kinda meh except for the Terminator. I was a senior in college when they came out and remember driving past all the Ford lots just to catch a glimpse of one. Competition orange with chrome factory wheels...Badass cars.

I think the '05-'09 are the best looking modern 'stangs IMO. The S550 is growing on me though.
