Thought I'd share a modification that I made to the shifter in my 09 GT/CS. I wanted the retro look of the Hurst stick and classic white ball (with the shift pattern only), but I didn't want the Hurst guts. I had a MGW shifter in my 03 Cobra and really liked it. The problem was the marriage of the Hurst stick which is rectangular and the MGW coupler which is configured for a round stick. I purchased a Hurst stick which was a lay back type, Part# HUU-2387201 $45.50 and the rubber boot support Pt# 1140015 $9.95 (both from Summit Racing). I took these parts along with the MGW shifter to a local machine shop and had them cut the Hurst stick in two right at the top of the upper bolt hole. Then they cut the MGW stick in two about 2" below the threads. They ground a channel the same thickness as the Hurst stick, put the shaft in it and welded it. It goes right on the MGW shifter and can be turned and adjusted anyway you want. The new set-up is 5/8" taller than the height of my stock shifter, and the entire Hurst stamping can be seen after installation. I know the whole thing is a mutt but it toots my horn. If MGW made a simular stick with their letters stamped on the side, I'd probably switch to that. I don't mind advertising for their shifter because they're the best in my opinion.

i would think DIY is fine or it could go in "pimpin it" or in the general mustang talk but its not a big deal

I like it!

It's the only reason I haven't bought a shifter yet.. The stick on the MGW just doesn't fit the 05-09 GT's interior, but the shifter is awesome.. The Hurst, on the other hand, looks great, but is suppose to be a POS.

just got mine for the 2010, george's stuff is the best, i really wanted a pistol grip with a button for my line lock,

mgw thread is 12x1.25, the hurst only comes in 12x1.75 and 16x1.5

so i mention this to my buddy when he was at my work, he asked to take my handle, next morning he texts me a pic with the new thread pattern i needed of 12x1.75

the handle turned a bit when doing the threads at the end, so when he dropped it off, he said he was going to do another one, i mentioned that the handle appears to have an insert of 12x1.75 and it comes standard for the camaros' at 16x1.5

so, he made me another today.

now i'm ready for an install!

Finally finished mine up.

We cut and ground down the end of the Hurst stick, so we could make it sit alittle lower. Then had a friend of mine take a piece of 5/8th round bar, channel it, then weld in the Hurst stick.

We still have to ground down the welds and trim alittle off the round bar so I can drop the stick alittle more, but I think it came out great!

Sorry for the crappy cell picks. I installed it last night when we got home from the bar.. it was around midnight. Hope to get better picks today.

A Hurst stick on an MGW shifter..... I dunno....looks good but feels like
your slapping Hurst and MGW at the same time.

I picked up an MGW last night...sweeeet. cant wait to drop it in.

I think the stick that comes with the MGW looks nice...

I don't think the MGW round stick looks right in our cars.. If MGW made a flat, chrome stick with MGW inscribed on it, I would of gotten it & put a White ball on top..

Meh. I put my Hurst stick and knob on my Pro 5.0. I understand the mentality, but the Hurst is just too classic and looks the best out of all the others IMO.

Btw, nice job OP, looks killer.

I picked up a Hurst pistol grip shifter with a button for the line lock but need to get a 'shaft' made up to adapt.
