June 13 was the annual Mustangs At Mosport event. It is restricted to Ford powered vehicles and is a lapping event with passing only on a wave by.

There were three groups, Novice, Intermediate and Fast and this year I ran in the Fast group. The group was very small, maybe 10 cars, until the afternoon session when the Instructors got to come out and play. The Novice and Intermediate groups were much larger.

The first video - this one with data

Nice video! I really like the data. Pls share some details of the video/data system you are using.

Thnx

BJ

This is a newer version of the system I have but the supplier has not had them available for months and there seems to be some question about their ongoing viability

My netbook and charger are mounted with industrial strength Velcro on a panel that is held in with bungee cords to the folded rear seat back. I use an inverter plugged into the rear power outlet to keep everything powered up. After coming in off the track it immediately displays my lap times and more information than I even understand.

The width of the bars on the moving shape indicates lateral G's and the longer the bar the higher the Gs. The colours indicate linear Gs. The deeper the colour the higher the Gs.

Audio has always been a challenge. Right now i am using a lapel mike with a foam shield clipped to the driver's side headrest mount. It gets a lot of wind noise from the open window.

Also my car has a stock exhaust so does not make much exhaust noise. All you really hear is the SC whine at high revs over the wind noise.

Here is a video from the outside of what it sounds like

This one has no data but has cars passing me and occasionally me passing a few.
In the morning sessions there were weren't many cars in our group but then in the afternoon the Instructors came out to play.

At the end of the video the rain starts coming down and that is when I called it quits.

The first time I drove Mosport was in 1973. It was 3:00 in the morning and my buddy and I had driven up to see a race the next day. I drove out on the track and made about 4 laps before a pickup truck chased us off. No we didn't get arrested. Last time was on a bike I had built.

Mosport on a bike has to be scary.

Was that before they took the top off the hump on the back straight.
