If you use the melling pump you will have to lockout the cams.( unless they came out with a new billet gear specific to 3v). You can use your stock pump with tss billet gears and not have to use lockouts.

If you plan on painting the valve covers make sure you use an etching primer as the material off gases a lot and the paint doesn't hold up.

Did the etching primer so that was good. They were pitted enough that it's a short term clean up.

In regards to the lock outs I was not aware there was anything special about that pump guess I need to research otherwise the result will be?

For reference this is pump installed:


10227

Standard volume performance upgrade for the M227.
For use with the 4.6L DOHC Cobra Mustang.
Also may be used in the 4.6L, vin X SOHC Mustang as a 8% High volume oil pump.

Update: swapped pumps for 13 gt500 pump and boundary gear so motor is still out. 13 has better back plate than previous. Got pump for $86 shipped from Tasca. If you know any 2v or 4v guys wanting a melling higher volume send them my way

Nice. I have always wanted to go that route but wanted to see how they work for a daily driver.....I assume you are gonna double up and run them parallel? Will that holder hold two pc-680 ?

That engine looks the bomb blacked out.
