My old, stock shifter boot finally became frayed after 14 years. I thought it was cheesy that Ford used a cheap vinyl boot in the first place. I had to put about 1/2 cup of silicone on it to keep it from crackling and rattling in the winter.
The first "Ford Leather Shifter Boot, Genuine OE Ford Part Number 8R3Z-7277-AA" I rec'd was vinyl like the original. American Muscle took that back and sent me the Scott Drake boot.
The Scott Drake piece is genuine leather. The fit is actually better than OEM. The grommet at the top is a little tighter than OEM, and it took some effort to install it on the shift knob adapter. I think it looks great, and it works great. Very happy with it.
